Danger

Wars cause danger for humans in mainly four aspects: life, environment, culture, and economics.

Life

According to estimates, at least 108 million people were killed in wars in the twentieth century, while the total number killed in wars throughout history ranges from 150 million to 1 billion. Wars essentially increase the death rate and take away countless lives from humans.

Environment

During wars, weapons kill enemies and native creatures, such as pigeons. The death of these animals causes ecosystem degradation, harming the local environment.

Culture

Wars destroy cultural heritage, including tangible heritage, such as buildings and museums, and intangible heritage, including customs, music, and other traditions. For example, the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra was partly destroyed by Islamic State in 2015.

Economics

According to Shank, "Negative unintended consequences occur concurrently with the war or develop as residual effects afterward, thereby impeding the economy over the longer term." Wars rarely positively impact economics due to the low employment rate.

Conclusion

As wars have so many negative influences on humans, people need to be against wars and advocate peace. May peace appear in every part of the world!
