As an imperialist, Rudyard Kipling wrote "White Man's Burden" to disseminate and advocate United States Imperialism in the Philippines, which is his true motivation behind writing this poem.

Kipling wrote this poem entitled "The White Man's Burden: The United States and The Philippine Islands" and published it in McClure Magazine in February 1899.

Meanwhile, the Philippine-American War just began, and the Spanish-American War ended.

The United States had just taken colonial control of many Colonies that used to belong to the Spanish. Thus, it was the best time for Kipling to show his "imperialism." Imperialists and Conservatives liked the poem considerably and liked its message of it.

Kipling wrote the poem to encourage the United States to have its authority or power over another territory, such as the Philippines, ruling others through political, economic, and social control.

At the end of "White Man's Burden," Kipling wrote,

“Have done with childish days.”

He encouraged the United States to be "mature" and responsible for joining the European scramble for empire.

In conclusion, "White Man's Burden" expresses Kipling's belief in endorsing United States Imperialism, having an enormous historical significance in leading to more wars that the United States will start in the future.
