World War III?

On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in a significant escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which began in 2014. The invasion has caused Europe's largest refugee crisis since World War II.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, at the latest count, 7,785,514 Ukrainians had to leave their country due to the Russian invasion.

According to new satellite images analyzed by the BBC, more than 1,500 new graves have appeared at a mass burial site near Mariupol.

Currently, the city of Mariupol is 60 to 70% destroyed due to Russian aggression. At a joint press conference with the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Mariupol's victims are impossible to count:

“We will understand what the number is, and it is not calculated in units, tens or hundreds. Unfortunately, it will be about thousands and tens of thousands of people... When we de-occupy Mariupol, which will definitely happen, we will understand.”

Among the various global military conflicts that have occurred in the 21st century, most people hypothesized the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine as a potential flashpoint or trigger for a third world war.

We live in anxious and heartbreaking times, where things we eagerly feared were finally behind us suddenly come true.
